Considerable interest was evinced in a wedding which took place on Saturday at Lingfield Parish Church. The bride was Miss Lily Elizabeth May Bishop (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bishop, of Newchapel Road, Lingfield) and the bridegroom Mr. Thomas Alfred Schofield (son of Mrs Wingham, of Glen Vue, East Grinstead).
The service was conducted ry the Vicar of Lingfield (the Rev. Derman Christopherson). The church was decorated with daffodils, narcissi and mimosa.
Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of heavy crepe-de-chine embosed with satin horseshoes and true lovers' knots, a veil with a Mary Queen of Scots halo, and white satin shoes. Her shower bouquet was of pink and with carnations, and she carried a silver horseshoe, a present from her parents. At the church door the bride was presented with a horseshoe by her cousin, Master Joe Harmer.
The bride was attended by six bridesmaids—Miss Evelyn Joyce Bishop, Miss Gwendolen Doris Bishop and Miss Irene Ethel Bishop (sisters of the bride), Miss Freda Parris (cousin of the bride), Miss Betty Russell (niece oy the bridegroom) and Miss Joan Harmer (cousin of the bride0. All wore floral halos to match, and silver shoes. Their bouquets were pink and mauve tulips.
