Why Men Abstain

Mr. A. J. Wilhelmy, 20, Radsworth-atreet, City-road, E.C. says:—

The modern man is not so polite to women as he might br because such politeness is not acknowledged by the opposite sex as is its due. The majority of women look upon a man's politeness without that feeling of pleasure that such acts should always meet with, and do not in return show their approval in a becoming manner; accordingly, men, who are invariably sensitive to such dis courtesy, abstain from the many graceful forms that help to make life pleasant.

Cat Trapped On Roof

Neighbours became alarmed when they saw a cat trapped on a roof of a house in Carlton Hill, Herne Bay, last Friday.

It was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilhelmy, of 32 Carlton Hill, who admitted she was not aware of the animals plight.

A policeman was called, and neighbours watched as a rescue attempt was made.

But the cat, which was sandy-coloured, did not seem anxious to be saved.

Later, a vet climbed a ladder propped against the side of the house, reached the cat and put it in a basket.

Said Mrs. Wilmelmy, "I think the cat had been up there for two nights. I believe it came from Grand Drive, but I don't know who owned it".
