Rescued--with a safety pin

There was Miss Joan Gundry tripping the light fantastic when she got that sinking feeling. For the moment every woman dreads had arrived - her slip started showing, and showing and showing.

Luckily a gentleman was on hand - a man you could pin your hopes on, sort of thing - and he gallantly came to the rescue.

The dancing temporarily stopped while Mr Roger Hunt of Park Gardens, Sherborne St John. carried out running repairs with a safety pin on Miss Gundry's petticoats.

Then the orchestra struck up again and Mr Hunt and Miss Gundry of Manse Lane, Tadley, continued to lead the dancing at the annual dinner dance of the Edwardian Old Time Dancing Club at the Great Western Hotel, Reading last night.
