CYCLIST'S DEATH
Misadventure Verdict At Ormskirk
A verdict of "Misadventure" was recorded by Mr. C. Bolton (coroner for South-West Lancashire) sitting with a jury at an inquest at Ormskirk to-day on John Patrick Kerfoot, aged 38, labourer, of 4 Moss Lane, Lydiate.
Kerfoot died on Saturday night from injuried received when the cycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a motor lorry at the junction of Moss Lane an Southport Road, Lydiate, a week ago.
The driver of the lorry, Robert Snaylam, of 1 Park View, Waterloo, said that as he approached the Weld Blundell Arms, he saw a bread van coming in the opposite direction. When his lorry was level with it the cyclist shot from behind the bread van and the front off-side mudguardof his motor lorry struck the cyclist.

Cyclist Died From Injuries
A verdict of "Misadventure" was recorded by Mr. Cornelius Bolton, County Coroner for South West Lancashire, sitting with a jury at an inquest at Ormskirk yesterday on John Patrick Kerfoot (38), labourer, of 4 Moss-lane, Lydiate.
Kerfoot died in the Ormskirk County Hospital, on Saturday night from injuries sustained when the pedal cycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a motor lorry at the junction of Moss-lane and Southport-road, Lydiate a week ago.
Thomas Joseph Kerfoot, shop assistant, of 4, Moss-lane, Lydiate, stated that at 12-45 p.m. on June 11th he was informed that his brother who was partially deformed in his spine and had an artificial left leg below the knee, had met with an accident near the Weld Blundell Arms Hotel. He went there and found his brother lying on the roadside injured.
"HELLO JACK" THEN CRASH
John Cofax Hughes, night watchman, of Canal Cottage, Southport-road, Lydiate said he was standing at the road junction when Kerfoot, riding a pedal cycle in Southport-road, shouted to him, "Hello Jack," as he started to turn into Moss-lane. Just as he shouted he was involved in a collision with a motor lorry coming from the direction of Southport. The motor lorry stopped almost dead.
SHOT FROM BEHIND VAN

Dr. Morilee Garside, house surgeon, stated that death was due to inter-cranial hæmorrhage associated with a laceration of the brain. Kerfoot also had a fractured jaw.

Late Mr. J. P. Kerfoot Lydiate
The death occured under tragic circumstances on Saturday, June 14th, at the County Hospital, Ormskirk, of Mr. John Patrick Kerfoot, of Moss-lane, Lydiate, who was involved in an accident on June 11th, when riding home from work on his cycle. He was removed to the County Hospital where he died.
Mr. Kerfoot who [was] 38 years of age, was well known throughout the district, and much sympathy has been extended to the family. He was employed at the Universal Steel Drum Co., as a welder. He was a member of the Farmers' Benevolent Lodge Manchester Unity of Odd Fellows, and a former committee member of Lydiate football club.
The funeral took place on Wednesday last weekat Our Lady's R.C. Church, Lydiate, Requiem Mass being celebrated by the Rev. Father J. Speakman. Chief mourners were Mr. J. Kerfoot, Mr. F.
