The bride was Mis Gwendoline Doris Bishop (third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bishop, of 2, Oak Cottage, Newchapel Road, Lingfield) and the bridegroom Mr. Richard William Kimpton (younger son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Kimpton, of 112 High Street, Rye). The bride and her family are well known in the district. The service was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev. Derman Christopherson)...
...The honeymoon was spent at Rye, and the bride will reside at 2, Oak Cottage, Lingfield, whilst the bridegroom continues his service in the Royal Artillery.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by Mrs T. Schofield and Mrs R. Thomas, and Miss Irene Bishop (her sisters), Miss Janet Sloan, Miss Cynthia Turner,: Miss Monica Sloan and Master Freddie Wetton, page. Mr E Dadswell was best man. The bridegroom is in the Royal Artillery.
